Going back to High School at almost 34!

Yesterday I had school conferences for Brayden & Zach. Brayden's went well. The normal things happened: met the teacher, found his locker, got pictures taken, etc. Zach's was a little unusual. He is a 9th grader at ALHS this fall. We got to do a "mini" class schedule last night. We went in at 6:00 and had an assembly for a 1/2 hour. The freshman got to do their cry of "12", which they say as 1, 2, not twelve! (I wanted to stand up and yell "93" as it all came back to me). Then we spent 10 minutes in each class with 5 minutes in between to get there. Boy was that work getting through a strange place in 5 minutes, was I somehow a freshman again. There were lots of complaints on the 7 period day. I thought if we did it, they can!! And they get 6 minutes between each class. If I remember correctly we only got 4 minutes. There were lots of rules that have changed. No cell phones in class, only at lunch and in the locker bays. Unexcused absences can lower your grade. (3 tardies equal an unexcused absence.) But one teacher said the dress code rule was "No crack front or back", and I think that is still the same! It was wierd to sit in a class again with a teacher you had many years ago! Or walk down the hall and see Mr. Haney, just like Mr. Haney was 15+ years ago! It brought me back to my high school years. I thought of people I have not seen since high school and those that I have just seen a month ago! I thought of you yesterday. But boy am I glad it is Zach going and not me. I am not cut out to go to high school at 34!! He will make many memories to have for a life time.

So much for Zach to look forward to! You too mom :) Glad you got to experience a little of what's to come for Zach and had some
déjà vu yourself.
