Fireproof
Last night I watched a movie by myself. This is a rare treat in my house. Normally there are kids in my lap or on my bed and I miss at least 1/2 of the movie. I did have to pause it a couple time to redirect children to bed, but that was ok. Mike had rented & watched it earlier in the day and suggested that I try to watch it after the kids went to bed. He said I would enjoy it, he did. I watched the movie "Fireproof" with Kirk Cameron. It is a Christian based movie about marriage. I truly enjoyed it. It used the book "The Love Dare" and helped a husband find his way to the Lord. I will be making a trip out today to look for the book and a copy of the movie. If you get a chance to watch it, please do. It was a nice change of pace from other movies we have seen lately.

Activities
The kids have been busy this month with all of the activities going on. Basketball is in full swing for Zach. He has been playing well and improving every game. They win some and they lose some. This weekend we will be helping with the basketball pancake breakfast. Brayden has been completing many objectives in Cub Scouts. Last night was the pinewood derby. He won the first round, but lost on the second. He did a great job building his car. Kailey is growing and becoming more social. Everytime I see her, she is twirling around. Dance classes are coming soon for her! Last weekend we took a trip to ChuckECheese. We did not eat, just played hard. They all had fun. Even us big kids. We were rewarded with a feast at the Olive Garden. Yummy.

Not enough of Mom to go around!
It seems lately that there is not enough of me to go around. Every one's events always fall on the same day and Mike is usually working. The kids are all needing mom, but there is only one of me! I need a clone. I just got an e-mail that Brayden was to participate in the flag ceremony at the school board meeting tonight and Zach has a home basketball game. The same thing happened last week and is to repeat next Tuesday. Both want me at their events, and yes Mike is working. I hope I don't have to pick and choose which things I get to see all the time. Arggghh, mommy stress. Thank you Rita for stepping up and helping with Brayden tonight!! It is appreciated.

Minnesota Strong
Brrrr...............it is cold out there. -21 degrees. Welcome to Minnesota. It looks like a beautiful winter day, but don't stay out too long. I love living in Minnesota, but this cold snap is making me think we should have considered more options. Even though it is cold, life goes on. Yesterday on my afternoon off I had to run errands. The streets were busy, there were lines at the grocery store and bank, and I even saw some full parking lots. I guess most of us are Minnesota Strong, grin and bear it and go on with our life. I won't be seen hanging around outside, but the cold doesn't keep me from doing what needs to be done. The kids, of course, are loving this. They had 2 late starts and 2 extra days off. Zach may miss a basketball game tonight, if they cancel it. So we will have to deal with some disappointment. I am waiting for the heat wave coming on Saturday. I hope it is warm, we are heading to the Cities for Abram's first birthday. Happy Birthday Abram!

January 2009
A new month, a new year. I am looking forward to 2009. Many exciting things to come. I have never been very good at New Year's resolutions. The only one that has stuck in the past was limiting myself to one can of pop a day. This year I am going to continue to work on losing some weight and getting fit. This started on New Year's day when shopping in Mankato. I found a wii fit. It was on my Christmas wish list, but there was not one to be found in our area. I took it as a sign and splurged on myself!! I have used it for the last 2 weeks and I am improving on some exercises. (Like the hula hooping. Not real great on the soccer head bump) My favorite is the yoga. Although I have a hard time getting the wii all alone, there usually is a mom fan club sitting on the bed watching. It can make yoga difficult. The kids are beating all my scores, so I guess I am not the best mii! Even Mike is getting into it!! I will say that it is a fun game for all of us to be together! For all of you that made a resolution, best wishes in sticking with it. :)
