Valentine's Day
I was thinking last week that Valentine's day is a commercial ploy! Ads were out in full swing to buy your sweetheart flowers, candy, jewelry etc. I had a talk with Mike about how I felt and it seemed that he was in agreement that yes it was nice to pick something out for the one you love, but not spend twice as much on something just because it was expected. And it doesn't have to be limited to the date on the calendar! So I picked up a little treat for each child from us and made Mike a fresh strawberry pie. We really had a nice day just being at home with the family and not feeling the pressure to do more or things that we couldn't afford too. Of course I did feel a little sad that there were no flowers in the house, roses are my favorite. But when they are $50-$75 a dozen, they can stay at the store!! I did notice at work on Friday that there were only a few floral deliveries, last year we could not get them delivered fast enough. It's not what you spend that shows someone that you love them!!
